Starting from Scilab 2026.0.0, the extension version must be compatible with the Scilab major.minor version configured in VS Code settings.
To ensure compatibility, the extension version can be changed by clicking right on the Scilab extension in the VSCode extension list, then finding Install Specific Version….
If you want to keep your current version, you can uncheck Auto Update on the extension page.
