Hi everyone,
We are pleased to announce Scilab 2027.0.0.
Download: Scilab 2027.0.0 | Scilab
Full changelog: Scilab Online Help
This major release brings new web-based UIs, a debugger and an AI assistant in SciNotes, transparency in graphics, and FMU import built into Xcos.
A modernized desktop
The console, SciNotes, the help browser and the news feed are now web-based.
SciNotes, rebuilt on the VS Code editor
SciNotes now uses the VS Code editor and the Scilab language server. You get:
- completion, hover help and signature help
- go to definition
- semantic coloring and syntax diagnostics as you type
- indentation formatting
- LaTeX preview in comments and strings
A debugger in SciNotes
Set breakpoints in the margin (with conditions and hit counts), run your code step by step, hover over a variable to see its value, and browse the variables of the stopped scope in the Variable Browser.

An AI assistant in SciNotes
A side panel lets an AI coding agent of your choice (Claude, Codex, …) write Scilab code, run it in your Scilab session and edit the file open in the editor. It asks you before any action outside Scilab.

Console
- Warnings and errors shown in their own colors (in a terminal, errors go to stderr). You can change these colors and styles in Preferences ⇒ Colors.
- “See also” entries and
doc <page>in the output ofhelp()are clickable links - drag & drop a file to execute it. A pasted block of code now runs at once instead of line by line.

Help browser
Highlighted code, LaTeX & MathML equations, a better search, and a menu on each page to jump to its sections.
Language
Automatic expansion now applies to comparison operators (<, <=, >, >=) and to element-wise logical operators (&, |), as it already did for arithmetic operators:
A = [1 2 3; 4 5 6];
A > [2 5 4] // each row of A is compared to [2 5 4]: [F F F; T F T]
Graphics: transparency, at last
A long-awaited feature (#6053): most graphic entities now support transparency through new *_alpha properties (face_alpha, foreground_alpha, background_alpha, …), and plot(), surf(), scatter() and scatter3d() accept new ...Alpha options:
[X, Y] = meshgrid(-2:0.1:2);
Z = X .* exp(-X.^2 - Y.^2);
surf(X, Y, Z, "FaceAlpha", 0.5)
Data analysis & numerics
- Clustering:
agglomerative(),linkage()andsilhouette() - Dates:
between()andcaldiff()compute calendar differences betweendatetimevalues summary()now supports matrices of doubles, integers, booleans, strings, durations and datetimesuiimport()has been rewritten. It reads XLSX files and can import data as atable, atimeseries, column vectors, a matrix or acell.parquetRead()/parquetWrite()supporttimeseries, andparquetWrite()can compress (“gzip”, “snappy”, “zstd”)pca()has an “Algorithm” option (“svd” or “eig”)sprkode(): SUNDIALS symplectic Runge-Kutta ODE solver
Xcos
- The former fmu-wrapper ATOMS toolbox is now the built-in
fmumodule: import FMI 1/2/3 FMUs withimportFMU(), simulate them withfmiSimulate(), or use theFMU_WRAPPERblock. It is also used when loading SSP files. - SSP files keep the names and order of ports, and can be saved with any superblock
- the Modelica initialization GUI works again
