Toolboxes install issues with Scilab 2023.1.0

Hello, first many thanks for developping and maintaining Scilab, which i’ve been using for quite a while now!

With a new mac machine (Intel, Catalina 10.15.7), i’ve installed Scilab 2023.1.0, which works great. However i’m struggling with installing toolboxes: helpbx, distfun, stixbox do not get installed, and i’ve no clue how to proceed. Any advice in general or for these toolboxes in particular?

Many thanks! -gilles

1. the common issue is “atomsInstall: Error while building the toolbox '/Applications/scilab-2023.1.0.app/Contents/share/scilab/contrib/…” , although distfun compilation seems to be ok, and source downloads are fine. (Toolboxes like plotly and colormap did install correctly)

2. i did give Scilab and sh full disk access, install Xcode and Command line tools, Java is ok…

Hello,

Can you upgrade your machine to macOS 11.0 (BigSur) ? It would allow a much simpler solution to your problem (i.e. install the latest version of Scilab…).

Hello, thanks dor You reply. I could, but it is much easier to downgrade Scilab. With which version of Scilab (6.1.1 ?) would these toolboxes install correctly? (btw, what is the problem with installing these toolboxes?)

Many thanks, gilles

No, because one of the binary packages, distfun, is available for Scilab 2023 but only for Windows. You may give a try with Scilab 6.1.1, but if it also fails upgrading your macOS to Big Sur and using Scilab 2025 will be the only solution.
