Xcorr implementation : reference book or article?

Hi all,

I’m currently using xcorr for signal/data measurements processing purpose, around time delay analysis and I’m wondering about the bibliographic references and theoretical details that inspired the current implementation : is there any book or article you may pointing out (beyond the example of the D-booker french book Vol.3) ?

The Scilab implementation seems very classic as it uses the FFT (with zero-padding to extend the length of signals to the next power of 2).
