I use Scilab 2025.1.0 on Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnomon with the standard integrated (docked) view. Scilab starts with Swing’s Gnome-Theme by default. That doesn’t look nice on Mint’s Cinnamon Gnome. So, I tried to do switch to Swing’s Metal theme with:
setlookandfeel("javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel")
Which seems to work at the 1st glance.
But when I click on the file/variable browser or the command history panel, ONLY the menu and toolbar revert to the Gnome theme. The other elements of the panels remain in the Metal theme. The layout shifts slightly because it takes up more space.
Click in the console again and the menu bar/toolbar reverts to the Metal theme.
This doesn’t happen when all panels are undocked. In that case, everything stays in the Metal theme.
I reproduced it with several older and even the current 2026.1 version.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a solution? Is it a bug?
